Arian Foster: Barry Sanders is Greatest Football Player Ever, Over Tom Brady
Premiered Jan 27, 2022

Arian Foster says Barry Sanders is Greatest Football Player Ever, Over Tom Brady

“The greatest player of all time is Barry Sanders.”

That’s NFL legend Arian Foster saying his vote for the GOAT goes to the Detroit Lions running back — telling “I Am Athlete” why Barry’s eye-popping skills are more impressive to him than Tom Brady’s rings.

“I get tired on the debates about championships in football because there are so many variables that go into winning, you can’t pin it all on one person,” the ex-Houston Texans RB told Brandon Marshall.

“Like, the greatest in my opinion … the greatest player of all time is Barry Sanders. There’s not a greater athlete that played this game. He didn’t sniff the playoffs.”

The case for Barry is strong — he was the league MVP in 1997 and made the Pro Bowl every single season of his 10-year NFL career.

Sanders rushed for more than 1,000 yards every season of his career — cracking the 2,000 yard mark in 1997. He finished his career with 15,269 total rushing yards and 99 rushing TDs.

Barry is 4th on the NFL’s all-time rushing leaders list — behind Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton and Frank Gore … all of whom played several more years in the league than Sanders.

Of course, Tom Brady’s resume ain’t too shabby either … 7x Super Bowl champ, 5x Super Bowl MVP, 3x NFL MVP and 15x Pro Bowler.

Foster says Tom’s accomplishments are amazing — but there’s more that should factor into the GOAT debate.

“When you talk about Tom Brady, he's a great talent … one of the greatest of all time, but a lot of things fell into place in order for him to win those championships. It wasn’t just TB. That's why it makes me mad when you talk about championships in football.”

Arian also weighed in on Dak Prescott in the wake of the Dallas Cowboys getting bounced from the playoffs in the first round.

“From my perspective, it looked like Dak is not 100% confident in his game. That’s just my perspective. It looks like he lost a lot of confidence in his game.”

"And once that snowball starts rolling downhill, I’ve seen people change it and I’ve seen it derail careers. Ain’t no telling where it’s gonna go.”

There’s a lot more in the full episode, which drops Monday at 12pm ET on the “I Am Athlete” YouTube channel … including Kendrick Perkins telling amazing stories about playing AAU basketball with LeBron James when they were teenagers!
